Day 6-Kilmainham Jail

David and Jay finished their game of golf and met us at Kilmainham Jail. This place had so much of Ireland's history take place within it's walls. Check out this website to learn more. The conditions at the jail were horrible. It was built with limestone which retains water so it was cold and wet. Even children of the age of 5 were kept at this jail. This jail held some of the most famous people that fought for Irish independence.

Every inmate was taken to the chapel before being taken to their cell. Joseph Plunkett was also allowed to marry hours before his execution. They were not allowed to speak to one another.

One of the "nicer" cells that contained a fire place. I forgot the prisoner that was kept here that was allowed to bring furniture from his home.

We called the hotel driver to come pick us up like he told us to do. Little did we know he was going to pick us up in a Rolls Royce! I never thought I would ride in one of those!! It was pretty cool. He just didn't realize we were going to have 2 more than when he dropped us off. So we had to pile in!
