Day 8-Sedlec Ossuary

Our first day in Czech we took a train ride outside of the city to Kutna Hora. The first place we visited was the Sedlec Ossuary. Click here to get a brief history of the Ossuary. I can't even begin to tell you what it was like to walk into this place. I found it in my research of Prague and knew that I had to see it. Seeing the pictures was nothing like standing in the middle of the church. I could have stayed there for hours looking at all of the different details. The bones of over 40,000 people are displayed in the Ossuary.

The top of the church. Unfortunately (everyone but me was ready to leave) I didn't get any pictures of the grounds and the cemetery

This picture is my 2/365 for Project 365. It is my favorite of the pictures of The Bone Church

The bones laid under the church until 1870 when a woodcarver named Frantisek Rint was commissioned to put them in their current state.

The center chandelier was massive. This piece contains all the bones of the human body.

I thought this place was so cool and glad that I was able to experience it. So much history!!! I would love to go back just to look at everything again.
