January Randoms

Rowan started walking this month!  Let the good times roll!  I have the cutest video of her walking but unfortunately she's completely naked so I'm not going to blast it all over the internet.  I don't think she'd ever forgive me!

These are just some randoms off my phone.

  This picture was to make her cousin Avery jealous, he loves Elmo!  Rowan's very first bow!  Reese was much older before I could get anything to stay in her hair!  Reese lost her first top tooth!

Those Poor Texans

Now that Reese is in first grade and learning so many new things we have some very interesting conversations.  I can tell that she is trying to think and apply all the things she is learning to her every day life.  Case in point our conversation this morning.  I told Reese to go to her room and put on her brown boots.  Here is what followed:

Reese:  "Mommy, you know these boots remind me of cowboy boots.  I know they don't look a whole like cowboy boots but that's what they make me think of."  *sigh* "Those poor, poor people in Texas.  They don't have any water to drink!"

Me:  "Baby, they have water to drink.  They have lakes and streams just like us"

Reese:  "No they don't, they are in DESERT!"

Me:  "Reese, anyone that lives in the desert have pipes that bring them water from other places."

Reese:  "Oh, but really we should help them get food because they don't have any!"

Me:  "They have grocery stores that bring food."

Reese:  "No they don't!  I guess they could go out and just kill a snake and eat it."

LOL, LOVE HER!

New Year's in NC

We haven't visited NC for the holidays in quite awhile since I was recovering from my c-section at Thanksgiving last year and this year we were in Disney.  So, we decided to make a quick visit over the New Year.  It was the first time in years that I didn't eat hog jowls!  I never seem to get my camera out when we visit but I did take a few shots.  We even went to see David's aunts on his dad's side and that was a blast as usual!

Ro loved to look out the window and watch the dog next door.

 

Christmas 2011

It was a pretty low key day for us.  Christmas is getting harder and harder to buy presents for the girls.  When Reese was smaller we bought the toy store out and we've since learned she doesn't play with a whole lot and never expects a huge "stash".  So we focused on a few smaller gifts and then Santa brought them a larger gift.  They of course love the Santa gift!  It's not fair the big guy gets all of the credit!

The girls were always fighting over Reese's chair so Ro got one from Santa!

Santa brought Reese a laptop.  I was completely over Reese always hogging the computer so this was a gift her and me!
She loved it!  She wasn't sure if it was really for her. :)


Ro liked her gift as well!


Opening presents is tiring!
We always head to Mom and Dad's for Christmas lunch.  But it's a rule that Christmas is a PJ day!

It's crazy that this is Rowie's 2nd Christmas.  I remember her being this tiny little thing last year that slept through everything.  She was a very active participant this year!  I look forward to what the new year will bring!

Pink Pig 2011

We made our annual trip to Lenox Mall to see our favorite Santa and to ride the Pink Pig.

   Reese was so shy when she started talking to him.  She just scratched her head and started giggling.  Rowie was NOT a fan! :-)  The seats are soooooo small!  Notice I made David ride and not me!  

It was definitely a fun night!



Animal Kingdom

Our last day!  We saved Animal Kingdom for Thanksgiving Day because we knew the Magic Kingdom would be crazy busy due to the Thanksgiving Day Parade.  We made the right decision because the lines weren't bad at all in Animal Kingdom.  David and I even rode Everest twice which is my fave ride!  We talked Reese into going on this scary dinosaur ride (not the one below) and I honestly don't know what we were thinking.  I was traumatized by this ride when I went with my good friend Christine about 10 years ago.  We all climbed in our car and proceeded to close our eyes the entire ride (David too)!  The picture that they take during the ride show us all looking calm with our eyes closed and the people around us have looks of terror, HA!

 When we first decided to go to Disney for T-Day I knew I wanted to have our T-Day dinner in Cinderella's castle.  You can make reservations for dinner 6 months in advance so that is what I did first thing 6 months prior to our trip.  We got in!!!  I think this was probably the highlight of our trip.  Reese and Rowan loved all of the princesses.  Ro was scared of all of the characters but she was OK with the princesses.  So, we headed back to the Magic Kingdom that night for our last few hours at Disney.




 David was feeling pretty hot after his picture with Cinderella.  Our dinner included 2 prints of a picture with Cinderella.  I need to scan it and share at some point.  Oh, and each child got a princess wand or a pirate's sword.  Guess who insisted on the pirate's sword?  Reese you think???  Think again....DAVID!


















 For some reason Ro really took to our waitress.  She went right to her and gave her a big hug.
 Ro ripped this doll off a peg as I walked by.  She completely ripped the plastic ties...so I bought it for her.  She loved it!
 We went on Buzz Lightyear's ride one last time and David got a crazy score!  He was so proud of himself!
 As we were leaving the next day I took a couple of shots of our hotel with my phone.  I wish I would have done more!

Epcot

We had a leisure day in Epcot and decided not to push the girls since yesterday was so awful.  We didn't do any of the adult rides and just let the girls see what they wanted.  That worked out much, much better.  Epcot has so many amazing restaurants and the night life was pretty cool.  Maybe one day with out the kids :-).

Mary and Rowan were always chasing after the squirrels that would dart in and out of the brush.
 Reese wanted these pictures taken.  She would place herself and then tell me when to take the picture.  :-)




 Ro wanted to be held a lot today so this is what David would do and she thought it was a blast!




 Reese wanted to call my mom so bad while in this telephone booth in the UK section.  We scrambled up some coins but mom didn't answer.  She was visiting Ryan in NYC.
 We had a short wait before we were seated for dinner.  Reese took my phone and took pictures of random things.  The dinner was at a Greek place and it was just so-so.  The problem was they were so packed and they put us at this AWFUL table.  They crammed us where we were blocking people coming in and out.  They kept hitting Rowie in the back of the head and high chair when they would pass by.  David finally sat where she did and then no one could get through.  :-)  Reese loved the belly dancers and went down to dance with them.






 It was a great day and I can't believe our last day in the parks is tomorrow!
